I love a good BLT. The best is when the outside is super crispy and the bread is perfectly toasted. I like to use super crispy bacon in mine too. It has so much flavor and adds a really good texture. One of the best things about a BLT is how versatile they are! That makes it so much easier at dinnertime, because people can add what they like and leave out what they don’t. I think avocado would be scrumptious on this sandwich. Or maybe some cheese…. Mmmm.
This really is the easiest BLT you will ever make. And it has so much flavor! I had one two days in a row, it’s that good.
First, just gather up your ingredients. This is all you will need, plus some salt and pepper! I used just plain bacon and some romaine lettuce leaves. And look how yummy those tomato look! I wish I could say they were homegrown, but I (unintentionally) kill everything I plant… So that wasn’t happening this year. My family LOVES the Ultimate Whole Grain Seed bread from Prairie Grain Bread Co. So that is what I used here. Even my almost 2 year old eats it!
Next, get that bacon cooked, slice that tomato, and toast that bread! You can cook the bacon to your preference, but I like it super crispy. I also tried to keep the tomato sliced on the thinner side. And that bread is best golden brown!
Don’t forget to salt and pepper those delicious tomato slices. Once all this prep is done, you will be able to assemble the sandwich.
Start by spreading mayo on each slice of bread. Then get that sucker filled up! Once you get everything piled on there just how you like, close the sandwich up and spread some mayo on the top and bottom. Like this….
Mmmm….. Tasty looking right? One last step.
Take the sandwich over to a griddle or a skillet. I love using my tabletop griddle to cook on. It makes thing’s so much easier and quicker. Lightly grill the top and bottom over a medium-low heat until it gets nice and crispy and golden brown.
And there you have it my friends. It’s crunchy, it’s flavorful, it’s the best BLT ever. I made one for my sister too and she absolutely loved it.
What would you add or leave off? Or would you make yours the same as I did?
Thanks for reading! And enjoy!
Emily
